Hmm....Toys........

So, I was walking around town looking around the shops and i walked into WHsmith to get a copy of Let's Knit, but unfortunately I discovered the next issue isn't even out yet! Annoying. But I didn't leave empty handed :)  I was just about to leave until i saw this

Adorable Toys - sold at WHSmith

Included with the magazine was a knit kit - see below for picture. Pretty colours don't you think?

My one negative about the whole thing is the kit that the patterns in the magazine only include a few projects which include the kit...What's the point i ask you?  But still the toys in the magazine are adorable and I am very tempted to knit one for my best  friend's baby girl.  Are toys easy to make?  Reading the patterns, it seems easy but if anyone can offer me any advice about knitting toys, it would be most appreciated!

Apart from that, knitting wise for me i'm not really knitting much at the moment...Currently i am in the process of knitting a jumper for my baby niece. I found a really cute jumper from Debbie Bliss' Baby Knits for Beginners Boat Neck Sweater.  So far i've only just knitted the gauge swatch....have yet to measure it and wash/block it...hope i do it all right.

Anyway that's all. Until next time

A Doggie Knit Pattern i found

Knitted Staffie

I love when I get something off my facebook newsfeed that involves knitting and/or knitting related subjects.  And the latest knit updated from these knitting pages i've liked posted this, so i thought i would share it with you all. Sadly the pattern's not free, but whats a couple of pounds if you really want to knit this, right?

Thought this might be nice for all Staffie lovers or all dog lovers anyway - I am one :) Happy Knitting

My first blog post about...knitting :)

Earlier on in the year I decided I wanted to do something different, so I decided to learn how to knit.  I had learnt many years ago when i was very young through my grandmother. She started of teaching the basic and I started off knitting a scarf. I lived in another country back then, and my grandmother had come on one of her visits to see us.  But when she left she had never taught my sisters and I how to cast off.  So you can imagine me continuously knittiing this very long scarf that never really ended - i wish i had a picture lol!  After a while I'd gotten bored and stopped knitting..that unfinished scarf went in the bin lol!

So here i am now, a couple of decades later and I decided I wanted to learn again. So I went on this knitting workshop in London and learnt the basics - how to knit, purl, and cast off!  After that course I began wondering what i could make, besides a scarf and I signed up and  started looking for patterns off Raverly.  I didn't really find anything on there but I did pick up this book which i saw on Amazon which was really good, called Knitty Gritty - Knitting for the Absolute Beginner.

I read reviews off Amazon and after buying it i was amazed at how easy Aneeta Patel had made everything and i decided on my first pattern: the adorable baby booties: Here they are:

Here is bootie no 1 without being sewn up

Booties all done!!

Since knitting the booties I've been filled with an extra boost of confidence.  Its a nice feeling you get when you actually accomplish something isn't it.

Well i think i've over blogged really.  So until next time :)  See ya!
